The first tall terracotta vases, fired in the hottest week of the year.
From the kiln log
August in the front room meant the clay dried faster than Inês could trim it. We lost six pieces to cracks before they ever reached the kiln.
The tall vases had their own lower firing at 1,100 °C the week before, so the terracotta stays red. The stoneware cups and mugs went in at 1,280 °C on the Thursday.
A glaze run on the wide mugs gave us the best seconds we've had in months.
